HoneyChat uses a two-tier memory system. Short-term: last 20 messages in Redis with 7-day TTL. Long-term: ChromaDB vector embeddings store semantic meaning of conversations. Top-K relevant memories are injected into each response context.
How long does the AI remember conversations?
Long-term memory persists indefinitely. ChromaDB stores semantic embeddings of all conversations — emotional moments, key facts, relationship milestones. Short-term covers the last 20 messages. Old history is automatically summarized.
What does the AI remember specifically?
Names, preferences, shared stories, emotional context, relationship dynamics, inside jokes, and key events. Semantic memory retrieves what is relevant to the current conversation. Memory improves the more you chat.
Is memory the same on free and paid plans?
Basic memory works on all plans including free. Paid plans increase the context window (how much memory is loaded per response) and use higher-quality AI models that better utilize context. Elite gets the largest context and best model.
Can I reset or delete memory?
Haan. You can request memory deletion at any time. Chat history is cleared, ChromaDB embeddings are removed. This completely resets the relationship with your companion to a fresh start.
How is this different from ChatGPT memory?
ChatGPT stores explicit facts you tell it. HoneyChat uses semantic vector memory — it automatically captures emotional nuances, relationship dynamics, and narrative context. Plus it works inside Telegram with character voices and photos.
Do custom characters also have memory?
Yes. All characters, including custom-created ones, use the same ChromaDB semantic memory system. Your custom character remembers interactions, develops relationship dynamics, and references past conversations.
