This fork decides everything else.
- Single character — one-on-one conversation. The simplest mode, and image generation works best here.
- Group — several heroes in one scene. Replies arrive in labelled blocks: speech, actions and thoughts marked separately. There is no game master; nobody runs the world.
- World — a game master appears. Decisions stick, the world does not bend to the player, and there is world state, quests, inventory and how characters feel about you.
The type is set at creation and defines the rules of response, so choose deliberately.
Step 2. Describe the personality in words
The key step. Personality is written as free text rather than assembled from checkboxes — and how specific you are decides most of the result.
Generic words give a generic hero. "Kind and cheerful" is half the catalogue. But "makes badly timed jokes, gets flustered by direct compliments, calls you by your surname" is already a specific person you would not mistake for anyone else.
Backstory and speech style go here too: clipped short lines or long musings.
Step 3. Appearance and style
Appearance is assembled from over 80 options: art style (anime or realistic), hairstyle and hair colour, eye colour, body type, clothing. What you set becomes canon — it is mixed into every image, so the hero stays recognisable.
Which leads to something that surprises many people: you cannot rewrite the looks later through an image request. Canon beats a one-off ask, so set here what should be permanent.
Step 4. Voice and opening scene
The voice is picked from neural ones — emotional, not a speech synthesiser — and it works on the free plan too. In groups and worlds each member gets their own voice so the lines do not all sound alike.
The opening scene sets where and how the story starts. For worlds this matters especially: a scenario with no greeting text opens the world as an empty chat, so write the first scene, not just a title.
Step 5. Test it by talking
Once saved, the character appears in your chat list. Send a dozen messages — that is the real test: you will see straight away whether the personality holds and whether the hero sounds like everyone else.
If it does not fit, go back to the editor and sharpen the description; edits apply to the current chat. And remember: the response style in chat settings outweighs the description. Short-reply modes deliberately strip actions and thoughts, and in worlds they are automatically swapped for "Concise GM", because a game master without actions is impossible.
How explicit a character can be
The builder does not limit how a hero turns out — the ceiling comes from your plan. The service has six content levels, from romance without eroticism to full explicitness. Free reaches the second, Basic and Premium the third, VIP the fourth, Elite and Ultimate open the maximum.
